Members

Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) has more than 1,200 Members who are Traditional Owners and Custodians for Murujuga. Based on MAC’s core objectives, as set out in its Rulebook, MAC has developed some Member Support programs to provide its Members with assistance.

Applying to be a MAC Member

If you are not already a Member of MAC, you can apply for membership by completing the Membership Application Form on the link below. To be eligible for membership, you must be 18 years of age, provide identity documentation and details of your ancestry or lineage which trace to one or more of the five groups that comprise MAC (Yaburara, Mardudhunera, Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, and Wong-Goo-Tt-Oo). This information will then be presented to the MAC Board of Directors at their monthly meeting for their consideration and approval. Membership applications can be delayed if supporting documentation is missing, not provided, or inaccurate.

Accessing Member support

As MAC is not a prescribed body corporate (PBC), it does not receive royalties and has limited funding. As a result, the assistance MAC provides to its Members is limited.

The MAC Member Support Policy and Member Support Application for Assistance form provide information about the assistance programs available to MAC Members, including the funding amounts and also the eligibility requirements.

Commencing 4 November 2024, MAC Members may be eligible for the following programs of Member Support:

  • Assistance for Elders and aged persons (55+);
  • Medical assistance;
  • Education assistance;
  • Lore and culture;
  • Discretionary assistance.

Further information regarding the assistance programs offered to Members or inquiries relating to how to become a MAC Member can be accessed at the MAC office based at Lot 501 Griffin Road, Burrup Peninsula, WA 6713 or by contacting MAC Member Services Coordinator Paula Parry by email ms@murujuga.org.au or telephone: (08) 9144 4112 /  0400 520 422.

Please note that it may take from five to seven business days to process an Assistance Application after it has been received at the MAC office. Urgent applications, such as those relating to health emergencies and funeral arrangements, are prioritised. This could result in further delays to the processing timeframe of other non-urgent applications. Assistance Applications under the Discretionary assistance program require approval by the Board of Directors and will therefore take longer to process.
